VETA Skill Development Training Vacancy Announcement

The Vocational Education and Training Authority (VETA) is implementing a Skills Development project in the country in collaboration with the Tanzania Confederation of Trade Unions (TUCTA), the Tanzania Employers Association (ATE), the Danish Trade Union Confederation (DTDA) and the Confederation of Danish Industry (DI).

Through the project, VETA advertises skills development training opportunities for Tanzanian youth between the ages of 18 and 35.

PROFESSIONS INVOLVED

  1. Industrial Electrical Installation;
  2. Domestic Electrical Installation;
  3. Refrigeration (Refrigeration); and
  4. Fitter Mechanics.
    A COLLEGE THAT WILL PROVIDE TRAINING
    This training will be provided through the VETA KIHONDA college.

FUNDING TRAINING
The fee will be paid by the Project.
The Parent/Guardian/Student will pay for food and/or lodging while attending training.
DURATION OF TRAINING
Training will take place for a period of four months in the classroom and two months of practical training in the industry (Field Attachment).
QUALIFICATIONS TO JOIN THE TRAINING
The applicant must have the following qualifications: Be a citizen of Tanzania
He should be between 18 to 35 years old

  1. He must have graduated from the fourth form of education or is employed in the relevant field.
    PROCEDURE TO JOIN THE TRAINING

    Applications to join the training should be sent to VETA Kihonda College by filling out the application form or sent to the following email address: kihondarvtsc@veta.go.tz. Application forms are available at the college or on the VETA website www.veta.go.tz. You can request the form through the following email: kihondarvtsc@veta.go.tz
    When returning the form, the applicant must attach a copy of the following documents:
    (i) Birth certificate or national identity card or driver’s license or voter’s card;
    (ii) Letter of identification from the local/village Government;
    (iii) Form four certificate;
    (iv) The letter of application should specify the field he is applying for; and
    (v) Letter of Manager/Employer for those employed.

  2. END OF APPLICATIONS AND START OF TRAINING

Bukombe District is one of the five districts in Geita Region of Tanzania.[2] Its administrative centre is the town of Ushirombo. Prior to March 2012, it was one of the eight districts of the Shinyanga Region.

The Regional Commissioner of the Geita Region is Ally Hapi. According to the 2012 census, the population of Bukombe District was 224,542. Bukombe District is divided administratively into 15 wards.

Geita Region is one of Tanzania’s 31 administrative regions. The town of Geita is the capital. The regional commissioner of the Geita Region is Magalula Saidi Magalula. Geita Gold Mine is located within Geita Region, 4 km west of the town of Geita. The mine is currently being owned and managed by AngloGold Ashanti.

The region was created in March 2012 from portions of the Shinyanga, Mwanza, and Kagera regions. A Districts As of 2012, the region is administratively divided into five districts.

POSITION DESCRIPTION:

Bulyanhulu Gold Mine is seeking to recruit Intern Community Project to join our team. The successful candidate for this position is expected to align to the Barrick DNA and drive a change within his/her team and the business and on a practical note will ensure activities in the Social & Environment Department are effectively planned and undertaken in a safe and cost-effective manner to achieve targets in accordance with BGML Mining Safety Standards, Policies and Procedures.

Reporting to: Community Project Officer   

Work Schedule: Rotation Status (5 Days On, 2 Days Off)

Duration: 1 Year 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Ability to own and lead the journey to zero and walk the floor to deliver a safety culture across the site. 
  • Ensure all community projects are implemented and completed on planned timeframe.  
  • Liaise with both Districts Msalala and Nyang’hwale on community project issues for resolution to ensure on-time project completion. 
  • Ensure community project site visits are conducted as scheduled.
  • Identify any negative deviations from the approved project plan and advice way forward on issues identified for corrective measures. 
  • Establish and manage relations with independent contractors, vendors to ensure quality service delivery. 
  • Facilitate payment for community projects including review of the document submitted to BGML by service providers.
  •  Collaborate with technical teams from both districts to conduct quality control for community projects. 
  • Lead the Community Development Committee (CDC) and come up with sustainable projects (review the district strategic 5 years plan and advise the CDC team on implementation phases for each project) 

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:                                                                             

  • Minimum bachelor’s degree in Project Planning Management, Community Development, Business Administration and Entrepreneurship Education 
  • Valid driving license

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • 6 Months to 1 year   experience preferably in mining or related industry 
  • Quick learner with a passion for developing people

SKILLS / KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Strong business understanding

  • Outstanding communication skills – oral, written, and presentation

Reporting, Tenure and Responsibilities

The Directors of the Governing Board shall report to the Board of Trustees of MSD Ajira. Major Responsibilities

  • A minimum of Bachelor Degree from a recognised academic institution, with ten (10) years’ experience preferably from the following fields; business administration, pharmacy, biomedical science, chemistry, Laboratory, economics, finance, risk, law, engineering, environment, marketing and governance. Possession of Master Degree and PhD in relevant fields will be an added advantage.
  • The ability to make sensible and informed commercial decisions and recommendations and the ability to contribute an independent view to matters under consideration and to add value to Governing Board deliberations;
  • Must have knowledge of the sector especially Company’s role in the industry and issues affecting the health commodities production sector in Tanzania;
  • Previous experience in Board seating.
